Rookie Game Jam 2022-Prize Distribution Ceremony

And it’s a wrap! With 462 participants grouped into 127 teams from across the country, Mindstorm Studios celebrated the success of Rookie Game Jam 2022 with a bang. During the month-long Game Jam, students showcased their commitment and passion for game-building by producing 95 exciting games. The prize distribution ceremony was attended by multiple game-building studios, prominent members of the academic sector (HEC, LUMS, FAST-NUCES, IBA, LGU, IAC, SMIU, UMT, FCCU, ITU, UOE, KCWU, RIU, GCU, and COMSATS) and technology & developmental bodies.

The winning team consisted of Mubashir Islam (University of Mianwali), Mehreen Adeel (UMT Lahore), Muhammad Moaaz bin Sajjad (FAST-NUCES Karachi), and Aliza Hamid (NED-UET Karachi). The top 3 teams won prize money worth a total of PKR 250k while 14 teams received special mention awards for their outstanding performance in the competition.

Chief guests of the prize distribution ceremony, Mr. Stephen Berlinguette (Director of Economic Growth at USAID), and Asim Shahryar (CEO Ignite) applauded the participant’s work and effort during the Rookie Game Jam 2022. Mr. Asim congratulated Mindstorm Studios for successfully executing Pakistan’s Biggest Game Jam and acknowledged its efforts to promote game-building in the country and create pathways for passionate game developers to enter the field. He noted that these initiatives, supported by the government and international organizations, are integral to economic development in Pakistan. Moreover, Mr. Stephen Belinguette appreciated Mindstorm Studios’ endeavors in organizing the game jam while also highlighting the positive impact the gaming industry can have on economic growth. 

Mindstorm Studios is committed to contributing to the gaming ecosystem, highlighting the role of academia and the gaming industry in not only the professional development of our youngsters but also in the overall economic growth of Pakistan.
